Softball team ends season with loss to West De Pere

The Trucker girls softball team ended their season with a regional playoff loss to West De Pere.

The Truckers fell behind 5-0 after three innings but posted a run in the fourth to stay in the game. West De Pere then exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game away.

Allison Shepard took the loss as the Clintonville defense committed four errors and allowed 15 runs on four hits.

Miranda Hagberg led the Truckers at the plate, smacking a double, while Shepard added a single.

“We are a very young team, and our inconsistency showed again today,” said Coach Jim Klingbeil. “Our pitchers struggled, as 14 walks were the big difference in the game. With nine varsity players returning next year, hopefully the girls will build on the experience they gained this year.”
