Wolf River Marketplace opens June 4

Do you like to shop in the fresh air of a farmer’s market? New London will be offering their own again this year, the Wolf River Marketplace. Relocated to Bucky’s Restaurant parking lot on Shawano Street, it is the hope of the Forward New London Group, facilitators of the marketplace, that larger crowds will come out to support local producers and vendors.

“It may not be the biggest market in the area, but you won’t have to fight the crowds either,” says Rita Theil, spokesperson for Forward New London. “We know it’s small, but you can get your fresh, seasonal vegetables and buy art or little treasures at your leisure.”

The market helps to support local growers in giving them a place to sell their produce. Artisans, crafters and entrepeneurs are welcome to bring their offerings to the market each Saturday morning as well. The cost is just $5 and keeps advertising dollars available for promoting the market. Vendors can sign up by calling 982-4410 or by coming to the market by 8 a.m. any Saturday.

Shawano Street is a heavy traffic area and it is the hope of Forward new London that this will make a difference in increased vendors and increased sales of what they bring to the table. Vendors will line the street facing Shawano Street and shoppers will be able to enjoy outdoor shopping.

Wolf River Marketplace runs from June 1 to Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday.
