Calvin F. Pomerening Joined his wife Margaret in Heaven on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 age 86. Calvin was born in the Township of Poygan, July 22, 1924, son of the late Alfred and Elsie Pomerening. His father Alfred was a cheese maker who changed careers to become a Farmer in the township of Caledonia, Waupaca County. Calvin was three months old when he moved to Breezy Hill Dairy Farm. He lived and worked there for 77 years and “went round and round in the fields”.
Valedictorian of class of 1942, New London High School. Attended UW Madison-majoring in Agriculture. He returned home before graduating to help his parents run the family farm during WWII. He married Margaret Flunker on October 15, 1948. . Later became owner of the Breezy Hill Dairy Farm. Visionary, imaginative, farmer. Quiet sensitive man who enjoyed long conversations and the search for fairness and goodness in his fellowman. His heroic work ethic was quietly observed in his working from dawn until dusk each and every day. He was light on his feet at a Polka dance, and a sharp Sheepshead player. Beloved husband of the late Margaret. Loving Dad of Glenn (Sandy) Pomerening, Green Bay WI, Joan (Eric) Pomerening-Hanson, Hubertus, WI, Bob Pomerening, Milwaukee, WI. Inspirational Grandpa to Havala Hanson, Somerville, MA, and Noah Hanson, Hubertus, WI. Further survived by brother James Pomerening, (Doris) Las Vegas NV, and sister Faith Wilde,(Ray), Minocqua, WI. Predeceased by brother Donald(Audrey) of Alexandra, VA. Memorial Service to be held at 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 6869 Wildwood Rd., West Bend, WI on Friday June 17th.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
