Seven players earn all-conference honors

REGIONAL – Nine area baseball players received first team all-conference honors from the Central Wisconsin Conference.

Weyauwega-Fremont’s Eric Keenan, Mitch Beilfuss, Treg DeSantis and Wes Alix, Amherst’s Ryan Makuski and Willie Doll and Manawa’s Dan Roenz made the CWC-8 first team, while Marion’s Drew Radies and Ethan Miller made the CWC-10 first team.

Second-teamers include Iola-Scandinavia’s Zach Gauerke, Weyauwega-Fremont’s Tommy Meehan, Amherst’s Chris Zblewski and Manawa’s Dave Sell (CWC-8); and Wild Rose’s Jack Butzin and Logan Schuman, Marion’s Ryan Kucksdorf and Almond-Bancroft’s Lucas Meddaugh (CWC-10).

Honorable mention players include Weyauwega-Fremont’s Cody Derozier and Cole Bosquez, Amherst’s Alex Oliver and Manawa’s Austin Peterson (CWC-8); and Marion’s Austin Hoffman and Almond-Bancroft’s Tyler Bunders (CWC-10).

Keenan was a second-teamer last year and a unanimous first-teamer as a sophomore. He led the Indians with a .444 batting average in conference games and had 20 hits and 12 walks while scoring 18 runs. He also had an on-base percentage of .569.

Beilfuss led W-F in innings pitched (38) and strikeouts (32) and posted a 3.91 ERA.

DeSantis, an honorable mention player his first two seasons, hit .400 with four doubles and two home runs and drove in 20 runs.

Alix posted a 6-0 on the mound, struck out 31 batters and finished with a 3.61 ERA. He also hit .351 and led the CWC-8 in homers with three.

Meehan played center field and pitched for the Indians this season. He hit .327 with five doubles and 15 RBIs in his second straight year on the second team.

Derozier hit .306 with three doubles and a home run in conference play, while Bosquez hit .356 and led the Indians in runs scored in the conference with 20 in his second consecutive appearance as an honorable mention selection.
