Manawa man drowns in mill pond

Daniel Nolan, 57, of Manawa, drowned shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday, July 3, in the Manawa Mill Pond.

Nolan was at the boat launch near County Road N in the town of Little Wolf when the rope to his boat became untied.

Nolan swam after the boat, but was unable to pull himself into the boat or swim back to shore, according to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department.

Manawa police pulled Nolan from the water and administered CPR. He was then taken by ambulance to the New London Family Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
