Schmidt’s Corners back in the family

July 6, 2011

Schmidt’s Corners is back in the family after 35 years.

The bar was purchased by Eric Peterson, the grandson of original owners Frank and Margaret Schmidt’s. The business was offered to him by previous owned Betty Jones.

“I was constantly here growing up,” Peterson recalled. “Now it can be called Schmidt’s Corners again.”

Peterson graduated from Iola-Scandinavia High School in 1989 and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He currently is employed as a mechanic at Trzebiatowski’s Pickel Farms.

The original structure was built in 1935 and destroyed by fire in 1987.

The remodeled and redecorated bar is managed by Tammy Pomerenke.

Schmidt’s Corners is located at the intersection of County Roads J and C.

It is open daily from 11 a.m. to closing. Food is available.
