Meyer, Wenda L.

Wenda L. Meyer, age 71, of Readfield, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on April 14, 1940, in New London, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Benno and Ethel (Wohlt) Huebner. On August 15, 1959, Wenda married Elroy Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield. Wenda owned and operated Wenda’s Beauty Shop for 48 years and also worked as a hairstylist at St. Joseph Residence for many years. Wenda was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, where she served as president of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School, and belonged to the Couples Club, LWMS and Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing, bowling, golfing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Wenda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Elroy; a son, Rodney (fiancee, Mary Lou) Meyer, New London; a daughter, Julie (Richard) Aus, Green Bay; 10 grandchildren, Kira (Forrest) Kottke, New London, Jordan (fiancee, Jessica) Meyer, New London, Elias (special friend, Sandra) Meyer, New London, Cullen Meyer, New London, Ian Meyer, New London, Katie (Joseph) Howlett, Spencer, Trever (Richelle) Aus, Alabama, Reed, Shaye and Tessa Evers, Appleton; three great-grandchildren, Keiven, Jonathon and Adyson; a brother, Lyle “Buzz” (Sandra) Huebner, Winchester; a sister, Sandra (Gary) Hoerning, Appleton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Meyer, Weyauwega, Edith Dorow, Appleton, Elda (Norm) Wilda, Mountain, Verna Gamsky, Shawano, Howard (Barb) Meyer, Greenville, and Watson Barnhart, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Verlyn; a daughter-in-law, Lisa; a great-grandson, Eric; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Dorow, William (Audrey) Meyer, Ted Gamsky, Rosemary Barnhart, Evelyn Meyer and Steve Brem. Funeral services were held Monday, July 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, N985 County Road W, Readfield. Rev. John Brandt officiated. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont, and on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
