Meet the 2011 Shawano Speedway track champions

The 2011 Shawano Speedway regular race season ended the same way it began – with a cancellation because of the weather. With the cancellation being on the final point night of the year, the 2011 track championships go to the drivers who were leading their respective divisions at the time of the cancellation.

Congratulations go out to Ron Berna (WISSOTA Late Model), Jason Czarapata (IMCA Modified), Nate Michonski (IMCA Stock Car), Dave Fieber (FASTRK Late Model) and Clint Forsnter (IMCA Northern SportMod) for the track championships in their respective divisions.

Berna’s championship is his second straight WISSOTA Late Model championship at the Speedway, and his fourth overall in the division. In total, Berna now has seven track championships at Shawano Speedway as he also has three IMCA Modified track titles. This ties him with Terry Anvelink and M.J. McBride with the most track titles at Shawano Speedway with seven.

There were eight different drivers who won at least one feature in the WISSOTA Late Model division in 2011. Nick Anvelink and Berna led the way with three feature wins. Gordie Seegert and Paul Parker each won two features. Tom Naeyaert, Terry Anvelink, A.J. Diemel and Justin Ritchie each won one feature.

The track title for Czarapata is his first in the IMCA Modified division. He joins a select group of drivers who have won track championships at Shawano Speedway in two different divisions. He also has two IMCA Stock Car track championships under his belt.

Czarapata also led the way with six feature wins in the division. Jerry Wilinski, who won two features was the only other driver to win more than one feature. Eric Scribner, Tom Schaal, Marcus Yarie, John Peters, Charlie Wild and Matt Oreskovich each won one feature.

Michonski’s IMCA Stock Car title was his first title of any kind at the Speedway. Michonski won two features, which wasn’t the most in the division. That honor went to his brother, Dan, who won four feature races. Rod Snellenberger and Brandon Czarapata each won two features. Drivers winning one feature apiece included Justin Jacobsen, Shawn Wagner, Kerry Douglas and Harley Simon.

Fieber successfully defended his FASTRAK Late Model title. Just like in the IMCA Stock Car division, Fieber did not win the most features in the FASTRAK Late Model division. Fieber won three features, while Joel Bennett won five features. Justin Hirt won three features, while Brett Swedberg, Aaron Holiday and Diemel each won one feature.

Forstner also successfully defended his IMCA Northern SportMod title and also didn’t win the most features in the division. In fact, Forstner’s three feature wins was only the third best in the division. Cody Hudson won five features, while Travis Van Straten won four features. Joey Taycher and Jake Solin each won one feature.
