Comet, T-Bird runners compete at Panther Invitational

Waupaca and Iola-Scandinavia’s cross country squads competed Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Panther Invitational in Stevens Point.

The Waupaca and I-S boys’ team placed 12th and 13th, while the girls placed 15th and 13th, respectively.

Placing for the Waupaca boys were Zach Wheeler, 26th, 17:32; James Warren Jr., 67th, 19:05; Ryan Weise, 76th, 19:20; Eric Bolwerk, 91st, 20:11; and Jeff Servey, 92nd, 20:12. Placing for the I-S boys were Derek Peterson, 39th, 18:07; John Faldet, 62nd, 18:50; Ryan Przybylski, 78th, 19:22; Chase Przybylski, 88th, 20:02; and Wesley Petersen, 94th, 20:38.

Placing for the Waupaca girls were Autumn Schultz, 56th, 17:43; Lizzie Hanke, 82nd, 18:41; Morgan Platta, 85th, 18:45; Abbey Lazers, 86th, 18:48; and Alisa Blank, 100th, 19:10. Placing for the I-S girls were Emily Sether, 23rd, 16:16; Shelby Trzebiatowski, 73rd, 18:30; Natalie Gauerke, 89th, 18:55; Emily Madson, 91st, 18:57; and Ellen Oligney, 101st, 19:10.

Waupaca’s Nick Henneman placed 147th in the boys’ junior varsity race in 24:22, while teammates Endeavor Achten was 158th in 26:09 and Isaac Barden was 160th in 26:28.

Leah Pierce of I-S placed 56th in the girls’ JV race in 19:14, while teammates Brooke Phillips was 81st in 19:55 and Paige Berg was 138th in 25:09. Waupaca’s Kassy Daniels placed 131st in 23:05, while teammate Kya Hooker-Moericke was 132nd in 23:28.

The Waupaca and I-S boys’ junior high squads placed fourth and sixth, respectively, while Waupaca’s girls’ team took seventh.

Mitchell Rotta led the Waupaca boys by placing third in 11:36. Also placing were Ryan Esch, 22nd, 13:03; Dante St. Thomas, 25th, 13:12; Hunter Smith, 31st, 13:25; and Luke Wanty, 46th, 14:24. Javier Block finished 16th for I-S in 12:50, while Dylan Aanstad placed 36th in 13:51, Michael Schaefer was 41st in 14:06, Nick Blum was 54th in 14:35 and Josh Taylor was 65th in 15:17.

Victoria Nowak placed eighth for Waupaca in 13:16 in the girls’ race. Also placing for the Comets were Michelle Petkovsek, 23rd, 14:03; Ashley Jeske, 37th, 15:05; Mya Snyder, 63rd, 16:08; and Raven Patzke, 64th, 16:09. Four I-S runners also ran in the girls’ junior high race. Leighten Fischer was 11th in 13:28, Natalie Rustad was 77th in 16:31, Megan Thulien was 104th in 19:52 and Makenna Stalter was 105th in 19:53.

Both teams competed Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Amherst Invitational at Standing Rocks County Park. Waupaca’s next meet is the Wautoma Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 20, while the T-Birds will head to Wausau Saturday, Sept. 17, for the Smiley Invitational.
