eyauwega-Fremont had no trouble taking care of Iola-Scandinavia in a Central Wisconsin 8 Conference volleyball matchup.
The Indians defeated the Thunderbirds 25-16, 25-14, 25-10 Thursday, Sept. 15, in Iola.
Bailey Kapitzke and Dani Austreng had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while Anna Forslin and Kelsey Akey served up 22 points between them.
“We kept nailing serves that the T-Birds just couldn’t handle, so they couldn’t get their offense going,” W-F coach Rena Tomaszewski said. “This was a good win for the ladies, especially after coming off of such a close match with (Stevens Point) Pacelli. We know we can keep building and finish the season strong. We had some great opportunities for running a good offensive system and just had a great time playing volleyball.”
Forslin led the way with 12 service points, while Akey added 10, including four aces. Akey also led the team with 14 assists.
Mariah Hulbert chipped in with 11 assists, while Teal Tomaszewski added 10 digs and 10 service receptions and Kapitzke finished with two block kills and three aces.
Elle Maus led I-S with seven assists and six digs, while Lidia Frias had seven kills.
Both teams had CWC 8 matches Tuesday, Sept. 20. I-S played at Bonduel, while W-F hosted Shiocton. Both teams also have conference matches slated for Tuesday, Sept. 27. The T-Birds will play at Pacelli, while the Indians will play at Amherst.
