Steinbach, Carl J.

Carl J. Steinbach, age 80, of Fremont, died on Friday, Septemeber 16, 2011 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. He was born on April 19, 1931 in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin the son of the late Carl and Elfrieda (Peters) Steinbach. He was baptized on May 10, 1931 and later confirmed on September 15, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield. Carl served his country in the US Army from 1954-1955. On October 15, 1960, Carl married Carole Bierman in Neenah. He farmed in the Town of Fremont for 56 years and received the American Farmer Award, and served as an FFA and FSA officer. Carl was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, where he served in various offices. He was also a member of the Planning Commission in the Town of Fremont. Carl enjoyed farming, horses, and spending time with his grandchildren. Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole; a son, Curt(Karen)Steinbach, Readfield; a daughter, Carla(Robert)Steinbach-Huther, MN; five grandchildren, Eliza, Karl, Jake, Ben and Zack; a two sisters, Vivian(Ken)Voiss, Neenah and Donna Kiesow, Appleton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Gertrude Reineck and a brother-in-law, Robert Kiesow. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, N985 County Rd. W, Readfield. Rev. Robert Diener will officiate. Burial is in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
