Winchester presentation examines architecture

Dr. Patricia Williams will present “Castles, Country Houses and Places of Worship in Central Europe” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Waupaca Area Public Library.

Hosted by Winchester Academy, the program is free and open to the public. Preceding the speaker, refreshments and conversation will be available at 6 p.m.

Williams is professor emeritus of interior architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She earned her doctorate in historic cultural design from Leeds University in England.

“Much of the architectural beauty and artistic heritage of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia remained all but unknown in the West from the close of World War II when the Iron Curtain came down to the demise of Soviet influence in the1990s,” Willaims said. “This presentation highlights the design of castles, country estates and places of worship found in the three countries.”
