Foundation raises $45,000 for NL hospital

The Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation raised $45,000 at its Eighth Annual Fundraising Dinner held Tues., Sept. 20, at Crystal Falls Banquet Facility in New London. A total of 220 people attended the event, which was sponsored by 22 area and local businesses.

“It was a great night that engaged and connected people in our community to our mission,” said Deborah Johnson, executive director of the foundation. “Our goal is to continue the fine work enriching and enhancing the facilities, equipment and education at New London Family Medical Center.”

Proceeds from the event will be used toward a new chapel/reflection room; renovation of the family waiting lounge; infant car safety seats; wound care certification for two registered nurses; and new laboratory equipment.

Monica Nichter, practice administrator of Radiology Associations of the Fox Valley, said her organization was proud to be a sponsor. “It was a wonderful evening and a real tribute to caring for a community,” Nichter said. “We are proud to support the foundation’s continued efforts to improve healthcare in our community.”

The event, themed “An Evening with the Stars,” included “guest appearances” by Marilyn Monroe, Madonna and Sonny & Cher, impersonated by Jolene VanBeek of Clintonville and Tom Johnson of New London.

Another evening highlight included a special raffle: a locked jewelry box containing more $4,700 worth of exquisite diamond and emerald jewelry generously donated by Ardys Feitzer of London Jewelers. A total of 30 keys, $100 each, were sold. The lucky key holder was Jenny Meyer.
