Ethel I. Madden, age 91, New London, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011. Ethel was born on October 30, 1919, in Lebanon Township (Waupaca County), daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Brahan) Clegg. She was united in marriage to Clair T. Madden on October 31, 1942, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lebanon. Clair preceded her in death in 2003. Ethel lived in the Lebanon Township her entire life. She devoted her entire life to her loving family and proudly worked next to Clair on the family farm. Ethel is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Gerald) Lehman, Clintonville; Colleen (Dennis) Burton, New London; two sons, Thomas (Sylvia) Madden, Green Bay; Daniel (Brenda) Madden, New London; a brother, Garrett (Lola) Clegg and a sister-in-law, Irene Madden. Grandchildren: Todd (Rita) Madden; Kathryn (Erik) Pritzl; Anne Schneider; Michael (Susan) Madden; Kristy (Scott) Krause; Daniel Madden (fiance Lisa); Jamie (David) Torrey; Keri Lehman; Dustin (Jill) Lehman; William Burton (Fiance Becca); Andrew (Jackie) Burton; great grandchildren: Whitney, Emily, Aaron, Margaret, Madelyn, Claire, Logan, Braeden, Samantha, Brayson, Caitlyn, Avery, Andrew, Clayton and Brooks. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Roy and Harold Clegg; two sisters, Sal Debbrecht and Rachel McGowan. Funeral Mass for Ethel was held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, New London (Lebanon Township), with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Lally officiating. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Friends called at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
