Sex offender sent to prison

Judge John Hoffmann sentenced Joseph A. Bohman, 52, Waupaca, to 25 years in state prison and 15 years of extended supervision.

Bohman was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

In December 2010, Bohman was accused of touching a 6-year-old girl inappropriately while her mother was at the hospital emergency room. Bohman has been in custody on a $15,000 cash bond since the the sexual assault charges were filed more than nine months ago.

At the time of the incident involving the girl, Bohman was out on a $15,000 signature bond after being charged in July 2010 with 25 counts of possession of child pornography. The pornography charges were dismissed and read into the record for sentencing purposes.

Bohman was convicted of sexual assault of a child in Outagamie County in 1993 and is a registered sex offender.
