Riverside Medical Center offers two free community programs beginning in October. The Diabetes Education Group will explore the basics and benefits of yoga. Certified yoga instructor Crystal Kopitzke will teach an introductory yoga class from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, at RMC’s Maasch Education Center, 902 Riverside Drive. To register, call 715-258-1183. Participants will learn how yoga’s health benefits include blood sugar reduction and increased strength and flexibility. RMC will also host ThedaCare At Home’s Living with Loss meetings from 3-4:30 p.m. on three Thursdays: Oct. 13, Nov. 10, and Dec. 8. The grief education and support group helps adults process the memories and emotions and face the days ahead following the loss of a loved one. The meetings also will be held in the Maasch Education Center. “We discuss losses, coping ideas, and resources available to the grieving person,” said Stefenie Post, ThedaCare At Home’s bereavement coordinator, who leads the sessions. “We encourage participants to talk and share in a supportive environment and learn from others who are going through the same experience.” Registration for Living with Loss is appreciated but not required.
