Lodewegen, Minnie

Minnie Lodewegen, age 95 of Marion, formerly of Split Rock, passed away Thursday evening October 13, 2011 at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville. Minnie was born on December 4, 1915 in Arpin, WI as the daughter of the late Henry and Johanne (Vomkens) Van Zyl. Minnie grew up in Arpin where she graduated from High School. On December 1, 1939 she was united in marriage to Henry Lodewegen in Chicago. In 1946 the couple moved to Split Rock where they owned and operated the Split Rock Store for 35 years. After that Minnie worked for Bushman Bros. Potato Farm in Rosholt for a number of years. Henry preceded his wife in death on August 20, 1987 and in 2006 Minnie moved to the Camelot Apartments in Marion where she resided until her recent move to Greentree. She loved spending time “Up North” with family and friends, and looked forward to her card games at Camelot as well as raking leaves every year. Minnie was an excellent hostess. Whether it was making breakfast for her grandchildren or prime rib for friends and family, she just loved having company. Survivors include: Her Son: Kenneth (Sharon) Lodewegen, Marion. Her Daughter: Beverly Ahrens, Kimberly. 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren, & 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. A sister Jenny and a sister-in-law Betty. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, and 4 sisters. Funeral services were held Monday October 17, 2011 at 11 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion, with Rev. Gisele Berninghaus officiating. Interment followed at the Union Cemetery in Tigerton. Friends called at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the services.
