Bernice M Johnson, 81, Plover passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Sat. Oct. 22nd 2011, at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home King. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday 28th 2011 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home King, in Olsen hall chapel. Pastor Rich Engle will officiate. Burial will take place in King Veterans Cemetery and her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm Thursday at Maple Crest funeral home, Waupaca, and again from 10 am until time of service Friday at the chapel. Bernice was born July 10th, 1930 in Buena Vista, born to Walter and Pearl Hotchkiss. She married Nils Johnson on Oct. 6th 1951 in Long Beach California. They traveled extensively during Nils’s military career. Bernice was a switch board operator and taught furniture upholster at Tomorrow’s Children, before settling in Plover to enjoy their retirement. Bernice was a wonderful wife of 60 years, mother and grandmother, and her family and friends meant the world to her. She loved sewing and passion for walking. Bernice touched the lives of many people with her giving spirit, radiant laugh and warm loving heart. She is survived by her husband Nils Johnson of King. Her brother Ernest (Takeko) Hotchkiss of Kenosha and Ruby Campbell of Bancroft. She is also survived by her beloved children Jennifer, Jackie, Jill, and John (Candice). Grandchildren Bobbie lee, Rob, Korey, Scott, Trish, Shannon, Kraig, Ranae, Roxie, Rachel, Nicole, Christyn, Mike, Paxton and Amara. She is further survived by 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harley (Diane) Hotchkiss, son-in-law Daniel O’Keefe, and grandchildren Doralynn, Danny, Dawn, and Karinda. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to assist the family. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Olsen hall and the Ministry Oncology dept. for their loving care.
