Darlene A. Nelson, age 73 of Amherst passed away on October 21, 2011. Darlene was born on January 4, 1938 the daughter of William and Grace (Hefte) Wooge. Darlene married Dean on October 17, 1959. Darlene and Dean served 38 years with American Missionary Fellowship in central Wisconsin. They directed Riverside Bible Conference in Amherst, WI for 32 years. Darlene is survived by her husband Dean Nelson of Amherst; three sons Brice (Brenda) Nelson of Plover, WI, Darrie (Maria) Nelson of Amherst, WI, and Barry (Tina) Nelson of Plover, WI; two daughters Melodie Sprunger of Fort Wayne, IN, and Sherry (Mark) Voth of Noblesville, IN; eleven grandchildren Brianna, Brennan, Brett, Jayshua, Shaylana, Taber, Drew, and Emma Nelson; Kendra, Andrew, and Joshua Voth; three sisters Arlene Baker, Wilma (Richard) Thompson, and Betty Lou (Tom) Foster, many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents William and Grace Wooge; one son Kent Nelson; one grandson Daniel Nelson; one son-in-law Keith Sprunger; and two brothers Galen and LuVern Wooge. A funeral service will be held at the Grace Baptist Church in Plover on Friday October 28, 2011 at 11 A.M. Pastor Gary Akright will officiate, with burial to follow in the Badger Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, and again at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverside Bible Conference. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
