Thayer, Robert N.

Robert N. Thayer “Bob”, age 75, died on Thursday, November 3, 2011, following a 2 year battle with cancer. Bob was born on August 31, 1936, in New London son of Lester and Bernice (Williams) Thayer. On February 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rose Gutoski. Bob worked at Kimberly Clark, Larsen Co., and Dean Foods until his retirement. He was a very avid hunter of all kinds. Bob also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served his country in the US Navy from 1954-1957. He was a member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Rose; daughters: Barbara Thayer, Waupaca; Theresa (Al) Hedtke, New London; Jean Thayer, New London; Deb Heineman, New London; his sons: Robert L. (Robin), Oshkosh; Gregory (Theresa), New London; and Jim (Alice) Appleton; his mother, Bernice Thayer, Oshkosh; a sister, Betty (Larry) Korinek, Oshkosh. He is further survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Thayer, grandparents, mother and father in-law, and many uncles and aunts. Funeral services for Bob were held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating.
