Broeker, Helen E.

Helen E. Broeker, age 89, New London, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Helen was born on September 11, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of the late Julius and Emma (Cottrell) Wegman. She was united in marriage to Don Broeker in Union, Missouri. On November 1st, they celebrated their 70th Anniversary. They met while Don was stationed at Scott Field in Bellville, Illinois. Together they owned and operated Broeker Lumber Yard in New London for 24 years. She was an active former member of the United Methodist Church in New London and current member of Faith United Methodist Church, Neenah. She enjoyed attending her bible study group. Helen loved to travel, play bridge, golf and attend family functions. She was an avid stamp collector. Helen is survived by her husband, Donald; a daughter, Janet (Tom) Hoare, Neenah; a son, Richard Broeker, New London. Grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Frost and Julie (Troy) Westphal. Great-grandchildren, Steven and Scott Frost and Pamela Westphal and a niece, Susan (Peter) Durso. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Broeker and a sister, Julia Britton. Funeral services for Helen were held on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, (1025 Tullar Road) Neenah with Pastor Mary Council-Austin officiating. Visitation was held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial is in the Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund has been established.
