Group promotes lakes

Waupaca Chain O’Lakes Association board members Phil Peterson and Kay Ellis recently attended the Wisconsin Lakes new “Lakes In Action” citizen advocacy training workshop held in Amherst.

The workshop’s goal was to inform people outside Madison of Wisconsin Lakes. The presentation included an explanation of the state budgeting and legislative process, implementation of a statute through legislative and administrative rules, and effective communication with lake policy decision makers and with the media.

Wisconsin Lakes is the only statewide non-profit organization working to protect and enhance the quality of Wisconsin’s lakes. The organization communicates with lake groups, citizens, and the state legislature to ensure that Wisconsin lakes are protected and enjoyed for generations. Its website is www.wisconsinlakes.org.

The mission of the Waupaca Chain O’Lakes Association is to preserve, protect and improve the unique spring-fed Chain O’Lakes and its surrounding environment. To learn more about the local association, visit www.waupacachainolakes.org
