Last August, after all the recall election results had been counted, I pointed out how important Sen. Luther Olson’s vote would be now that the state Senate was split 17-16. He had the opportunity to act like the independent statesman he claimed to be.
Now, three months have passed and there is no evidence that his independence has surfaced. He voted 100 percent party line on key bills.
Why does the 14th District bother to send a representative to Madison when his vote has already been determined? Maybe this is a way to save money? Just close the Capital after elections and have the party in control enact their bills. That is what’s happening now.
