The Living Room offers fresh coffee, vintage decor

Clintonville residents looking for a place to relax may want to visit The Living Room, a coffee and vintage dècor shop located at 85 South Main Street.

The business officially opened on Friday, Nov. 25.

The Living Room Coffee Shop & Vintage Decor offers a full coffee bar available with espresso, lattes, tea, freezes, and bakery items from Bults Bakery.

The shop accommodate those looking to relax and lounge on a comfy couch, as well as those who prefer to sit at a table. The Living Room, LLC has created a nook within their space specifically for customers to relax in the flat screen TV area. There is also a separate room available to reserve for private meetings. In addition, vintage items, antiques, and art items are available for purchase. Free Wi-fi is available for guests.

“I am looking forward to bringing the coffee shop experience to the Clintonville area. The dream of owning my own coffee shop started approximately 10 years ago,” Angie Ditmeyer said. “My husband and I looked at different places to start one at that time but nothing seemed right.

“In the summer of 2010 there were a series of sermons at church that encouraged us to follow our God dream-that dream that you’ve had inside of you for a long time,” Ditmeyer said. “So I went ahead and mentioned about my dream of owning a coffee shop, a place that people can come in, relax and feel welcomed. I even put it on a star on the Connect-A-Dream wall in the church (to see others’ dreams go to www.connectadream.com).

“Then my husband, Mike, encouraged that we start looking at buildings here in Clintonville where we have lived for the past 10 years and things progressed from there,” Ditmeyer said.

Beginning in May, the Ditmeyers completely gutted the building, even tearing out the ceiling to reveal the high wooden beams. They took the flooring down to the hardwood as well, and re-insulated the facility and installed new electrical wiring.

“I thank all who have encouraged, helped with the remodel, offered their listening ear, and prayed for the dream in my heart,” Ditmeyer said. “I am truly humbled by your generosity. Most of all I thank Jesus Christ, without whom I would have no hope, but with whom I am blessed beyond measure.

“So I invite you to come in, look around at the retail items, have a beverage and/or a pastry, read a book, meet up with friends, or just come in to relax for a few moments and refresh your soul,” Ditmeyer concluded. “Stop in, check us out, relax and take a break from things.”
