Wolves wrestlers fall to Menominee Indian

The Wolves wrestling team traveld to face Menominee Indian on Thursday, Dec. 15, and took a 60 to 20 loss.

Head coach John Peterson said several wrestlers could not attend the match because of prior school obligations, resulting in seven weight classes being forfeited.

Of the seven Wolves wrestlers who did wrestle, four of them won their matches.

Christian Bertram won by pinning his opponent in two minutes and 42 seconds in the 138 pound class. Garret Griffin won by technical fall in the 152 pound class. Joe Vande Vrede won by a 6-5 decision in the 182 pound class.

Casey Johnson won by pin in one minute and 48 seconds in the 195 pound class. Brad Grimm was pinned in the 126 pound class, while Jacob Frenche was pinned in the 132 pound class and Ian VanRossum was pinned in the 170 pound class.

“The matches that were wrestled were intense and fun to watch,” Peterson said. “Brad Grimm got his first wrestling start of his career and Nick Swenson also got his first match experience time with a couple of exhibition matches. The team is very young and inexperienced but also determined to keep learning and working hard on improving themselves.”
