Peeters, Vaiden M.

Vaiden M. Peeters, age 97 years, of Bear Creek, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the New London Family Medical Center. The former Vaiden Margaret Stilen was born on December 19, 1914 in the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, to the late John and Mabel (Burton) Stilen. She was united in marriage on August 25, 1936 to Walter C. Peeters at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Shortly after their marriage, the young couple moved to Milwaukee where they lived until 1947 until they returned to the New London area. Vaiden and Walter finally settled in the Town of Deer Creek where they farmed for many years. Her husband preceded her in death on October 8, 1983. Vaiden is currently a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Her interests included sewing of blankets and quilts, and she enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking bread. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth Peeters of Bear Creek and Harold Peeters of Shawano; two daughters-in-law, Roseann Peeters of Bear Creek and Mary (Paul) Peeters-Flanagan of Bear Creek. There are 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. There are two sisters, Jeanett McGlone of Shiocton and Marie Gluth of Clintonville, and one brother, Joe (Marcille) Stilen of Shiocton. Vaiden is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, a daughter, Ann Peeters, two sons, Raymond and Bernard “Bernie” Peeters, a daughter-in-law, Donna Peeters, and three grand-daughters. Vaiden is also preceded by three sisters, Margie (John) Peeters, Lillian (Martin) McGlone and Ila (Harold) Flink; four brothers, Gordon (Martha), Ira (Betty), Merlin (Clara), and Virgil (Dorothy) Stilen; and two brothers-in-law, Bernard McGlone and Paul Gluth. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, January 2nd at 11:00 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. John “Jack” Mullarkey officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
