New London defeats Clintonville

The Lady Bulldogs continued their dominating play with a 78-20 win over the Clintonville Truckers on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-2 lead after one quarter and increased their lead to 32-6 at halftime. The Bulldogs never let up, outscoring Clintonville 26-7 in the third quarter and 20-7 in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.

New London made 34 of 54 shots (63 percent) while Clintonville made just 7 of 27 (25 percent). The Bulldogs sunk 7 of 11 3-point attempts (63 percent) while Clintonville made 2 of 9 from beyond the arc (22 percent). New London made 3 of 8 free throws (37 percent) while the Truckers made 4 of 6 (66 percent).

Clintonville committed 16 turnovers to New London’s five. The Bulldogs scored 54 points in the paint, while Clintonville scored just six. The Bulldog bench outscored the Trucker bench 34-8.

Tara Knapstein led the Bulldogs with 16 points, while Bridget Pethke scored 12. Brenna Heise added 10 points, while Coral Managan and Michaela Roland both contributed nine points. Heather Paalman, Alexa Roland and Morgan Steinert all scored six, and Megan Schlieve scored four.

Stacy Reinke led the Truckers with nine points, while Hailey Sorenson, Darcy Knaack and Alison Shepard all scored three. Lauren Pugh added two points.

The Lady Truckers play at home on Friday, Jan. 6, at 7:15 p.m., while the Lady Bulldogs will play at home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 7:15 p.m.
