Fremont man sentenced for boating fatality

Winnebago County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Gritton placed Todd M. Frisbie, 45, Fremont, on 10 years probation with one year in county jail for a drunken boating crash that killed Alan Richards, 38, of Holland, Mich.

Frisbie drove his boat at a high rate of speed into the shoreline of Lake Buttes des Morts at about 11:30 p.m. on June 6, 2005. Richards, Frisbie, and a third man all were ejected from the boat.

Frisbie’s blood-alcohol level tested at 0.156, nearly twice the legal limit.

On Oct. 7, 2011, following a seven-day trial, a jury found Frisbie guilty of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration, and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.

The judge also ordered that Frisbie pay a $1,000 fine and perform 75 hours of community service per year while on probation.
