Open enrollment period begins Feb. 6

Wisconsin’s public school open enrollment period for the 2012-13 school year begins Monday, Feb. 6 and closes at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

Under this state program, parents can apply for their children to attend school districts other than the district in which they live. Parents can also apply to virtual charter schools.

An article in an upcoming issue of the County Post will look at how many students open enrolled in and out of the six school districts in the coverage area – Clintonville, Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa, New London, Waupaca and Weyauwega-Fremont – this school year and what trends district administrators are seeing.

As part of its coverage, the County Post wants to include the perspective of area families who have chosen to open enroll their children into a different school district.

If you live in one of these six area school districts, you open enroll your children into another district and are interested in explaining why you do so, please contact Staff Writer Angie Landsverk at 715-258-4348 or [email protected].
