Arndt, Gordon D.

Gordon “Gordy” D. Arndt, age 75, New London passed away unexpectedly at home from a heart attack on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Gordon was born on June 11, 1936, in Winchester, WI to Otto Sr. and Anna (Kempf) Arndt. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Linda Lou Louise (Fischer) Arndt on June 22, 1957. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Gordon worked for International Papers until his retirement in October of 2000. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gordon cherished spending time with his family, particularly his many grandchildren. He was an experienced carpenter and always liked to keep busy. Gordon especially enjoyed spending time up north at their cabin near Marengo, WI. He is survived by his wife Linda Lou, New London; children: Dean (Kay) Arndt, Clintonville; Tammy Scherbath (Ron Lange) Hortonville; Todd (Tina) Arndt, Fremont; Kim (Amy) Arndt, New London; Kurt (Mary) Arndt, Clintonville; and Kerrie (Mike) Osnoe, Hortonville; his brother, Otto Jr. (Laverne) Arndt, Winchester; his sister-in-law, Audrey Rumlow, Weyauwega; bothers-in-law: Wayne Mathison, Readfield; Dennis (Lois) Fischer, Fremont and Donald (Laurie) Fischer, Readfield; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Gordon is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Anna; his son Kevin Arndt and three sisters, Shirley Mathison, Vera (Frank) Roblee and Ardella (Gary) Parson; father and mother in-law, Voliva and Viola Fischer and a brother-in-law, Arthur Niemuth. The Christian funeral for Gordon was held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Visitation was held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Military Rites were held. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Caledonia Township.
