Dorn, Jerome P.

Jerome P. Dorn, age 79, of Hortonville, Town of Dale, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Friday, January 20, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born on September 1, 1932, the 12th child of Daniel and Charlotte (Ulmann) Dorn, Sr. on the family farm in Greenville, which is now the Outagamie County Airport. Jerome attended schools in the Appleton area, then served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After discharge, he attended Fox Valley Technical College to become a license journeyman electrician. He was employed through Local IBEW 577 for various contractors throughout his career, the last being with Kiel & Warner Electric at the Appleton Papers location retiring in 1995. On September 13, 1958 he married Marilyn VanRyen at St. Augustine Parish, Township of Harrison. They resided on a small family farm outside of Dale, where Jerry enjoyed raising black angus and pigs. When not busy on the farm, he enjoyed traveling, “breaking even” at the casinos, and spending time with children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Marilyn, 4 children: Joseph (Debra) Dorn, Utah; Julie Wolfgram, Sun Prairie; Jonathan (Kiersten) Dorn, Texas; Jennifer (special friend Garry), Georgia; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Tamera, Margaret, Rebekah, Samuel, Michaela, Tristan, Braxton, Carter, Krystal (Casey), Jacob; a great grandson Mason and his faithful dog Max. He is further survived by sisters: Eunice Brockman, Florence Woldt, Rosella Ernst, Charlotte Koerner, Patricia (Eric) Jack, Beatrice (Eugene) Otto; brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Dorn, Lawrence (Billie Jean) Dorn, and a sister-in-law Joyce Dorn. He is further survived by numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ester Mae Krull, brothers Eugene, Edwin and Daniel. The Funeral Mass for Jerome was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Rev. Norman Krutzik officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends called at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. There was a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to thank New London Family Medical Center ER Staff as well as the nurses and doctors at 2S St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially Kim and Eleasha.
