The months of November and December saw the club begin to disperse funds from the Rodeo and aid the Manawa Area Food Pantry as well as construct and install another wheelchair ramp for one of our Manawa area community residents. In January we will begin preparing for our Club Excellence Workshop to be held in the beginning of February.
The Lions held its annual Christmas Party on Dec. 14. Present at the meeting were representatives from the food pantry. They explained the need for continued support and also gave us some history behind the establishment and maintenance of the pantry. Following that, the Lions Club donated food and a cash donation of $800. Also at that meeting, the wheelchair ramp committee decided on a date to erect the wheelchair ramp requested by a local resident. These, along with many other programs, demonstrate our desire to serve our local communities as Lions members.
In February we will take part in a new program that the Lions Club is offering – the Club Excellence Workshop. Our club will take part in a rigorous workshop which will help us improve on things we feel need attention and be able to ramp up the things we are doing well already. The club is very excited to undertake this important program to further improve our club.
The Manawa Lions Club meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month from September through April at Cedar Springs in Manawa and from May through August every Monday at the Hoffmann Memorial Park Rodeo Grounds. All are welcome to come and experience the great service of our Lions Club along with all Lions do for our community, state, nation and internationally.
