Spelling Bee champs head to regional

The 32nd Annual Waupaca School District Spelling Bee was held Jan. 26 at Waupaca Middle School.

The winners of this year’s event were seventh-grade students Sydney Tate, Mason Winter and Drake Hiddeman and eighth-grade student Lara Broderick. The alternate is sixth grader Sean McKibben.

The four district champions will now advance to the CESA 5 Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held Feb. 14 in Stevens Point.

Nearly 60 students in grades three through eight participated in the event.

The other students in the Bee were:

Grade 3: Dyani Larson, Tyler Seefeldt, Arthur Lisogar, Patrick Samson, Audrey Tice, Aaron Monday, Devin Geary, Ron Mason, Aiden Schuller and Ireland Grenlie.

Grade 4: Autumn Heisler, Tristan Schuler-Jones, Payton Leiderhaus, Kyle Pulvermacher, Damian Johnson, Megan Nicewander, Joshua Winter,

Astarte Kunz, Wyatt Nelson and Jacob Rayome.

Grade 5: Madysen Waid, Anna Ryder, Janissa Nickel, Adam Kennedy, Justin Vaughn, Bailey Colden, Brady Johnson, Forrest Ziebell, Gabi Wennesberg and Taylor Corbett.

Grade 6: Vaughan Barden, Madison Eggers, Sandra Olvera, Hannah Heifort, Alexander Hicks, David Johnson, Daniel Lukas, Bailey Seefeldt and Alyssa Townsend.

Grade 7: Rebecca Bauer, Carolina Cortez, Larkin Hooker-Moericke, Dakota Marlega, Joseph McCausland, Micaela Porod. and Ben Weigand.

Grade 8: Elliot Crisman, Taylor Korth, Hannah Mullet, Kadence Neuens, Raven Patzke, Mariah Peterson, Abby Stone and Blake Thoe.
