Van Ornum, Lenora

Lenora (Hall) Van Ornum, age 87, New London, died on February 2, 2012, in Tampa Florida. Lenora was born on February 24, 1924, in Buchanan, Kentucky, daughter of Lee and Ruby (Estep) Hall. On February 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lloyd G. Van Ornum in Ashland, KY. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2010. Lenora taught school in Kentucky and worked at Westinghouse Electric, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Lloyd and Lenora owned and farmed in Berlin for 44 years before moving to New London in 1990. She was a member of the Federated Church in Berlin and was active in Women’s Fellowship, trustees, chair member and Sunday School teacher, transferring membership to the 1st Congregational United Church on Christ, New London. Lenora spent her winter months in Zephyrhills, FL. She enjoyed camping and boating. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Michael) Gari, Tampa FL; son, Les (Helen) Van Ornum, Hortonville; grandchildren: Adam and Astin Kowaleski; Tim, Tyler, Jake and Mitch Van Ornum and Trisha (Laine) Handrich; great grandchildren: Blaze and Brielle Handrich and Emma, Ava, Josh and Abby Van Ornum. Funeral services for Lenora will be held today, Thursday, February 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at 1st Congregational United Church of Christ, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Burial will be in the Northport Ostrander Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, 209 W.
