The Lady Truckers played tough against Waupaca Friday, Feb. 17, but came up two points short when the final buzzer sounded.
A slow start put the Lady Truckers behind 13-3 after the first quarter. They rebounded in the second quarter and outscored the Comets 13-7. Both teams combined for nine points in the third quarter. Both teams scored well in the fourth quarter with the Lady Truckers outscoring the Comets by two points in the last two quarters, but it wasn’t enough. The Lady Truckers fell 36-34 at the end.
Stacy Reinke and Hailey Sorenson led the Lady Truckers in scoring with eight points each.
The Xavier Hawks handed the Lady Truckers a 55-26 defeat on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Xavier outscored Clintonville 17-5 in the first quarter and 12-6 in the second quarter and coasted the rest of the way.
Xavier outscored Clintonville 17-6 in the third quarter and the teams both scored nine in the final frame.
Reinke led Clintonville with nine points, while Miranda Hagberg scored six, Brittany Hoffman added four, Allison Shepard tallied three, and Dayna Seymour and Markiesa Westphal both scored two.
The Truckers made one of two foul shots and Reinke had the team’s only 3-point basket.
The girls play at home on Friday, March 2, against Ripon. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.
