What is it about the Republican Party that has caused its invasion into the private health lives of American women?
Apparently, Republicans are determined to turn health care providers into informers, which violates their Hypocratic Oath, by passing legislation that would severely compromise the choices now available to women concerning personal family planning decisions. This from the party that professes to “want government out of our lives.” The GOP has morphed into a sectarian morality squad with its assault on women’s reproductive and contraceptive rights.
The Republican Party also wishes to eliminate routine cancer screenings provided by Planned Parenthood simply because the organization also provides women with access to birth control and abortion.
It appears that these law changers have forgotten, in their haste to ban a women’s right to choose, that it also takes participation of a male to cause pregnancy. While Republicans oppose requiring all health care plans to offer contraception without co-pays, they do not have the same qualms regarding Medicare payments for Viagra.
If the Republicans have their way, will they be there to raise, nurture, love, educate, shelter and feed newborns as the results of unplanned pregnancies? How about the care of those born severely disabled in either mind or body. Will the GOP be ready to provide that these babies will have the care they need for a lifetime?
How about victims of a rape or incest? Who will provide these victims with support possibly through a lifetime of trauma? Unless the GOP is ready to do this, then it is suggested that they stop trying to play God. Let God, not the GOP, judge if personal reproductive choices are right or wrong.
