William R. Grassman Sr. age 84 of King, passed away on Sunday February 26, 2012. William was born on January 17, 1928, the son of Leo and Lucille (Henze) Grassman. William was married to the late Ann King, and then to Ardyth Procknow. William will be remembered by family and friends whose lives were touched with activities that took place at Camp Shangi La and the Nob Hill Ranch Horse Stables in the Madison area, as well as the Wisconsin River property in Sauk City. William is survived by his children: William “Bumper” Grassman Jr. (Patty Tuttle) of Sun Prairie, WI; Terry (Jack) Martin of Washington D.C.; Kimberly (Richard) Schoppenhorst of Green Bay, WI; Gregory Grassman of Green Bay, WI; Jeffrey (Tammy Lynch) Grassman of Verona, WI; and Lisa Grassman of Kaukauna, WI; his grandchildren: Holly Martin, Lysti Grassman, Justin Martin, Morgan Behling, Kelsey Schoppenhorst, Leo Grassman, Kari Grassman, Nicki Grassman, Kristi Grassman, Sam Grassman, Hunter Grassman, Courtney Schoppenhorst, Jared Grassman, and Nicholas Grassman; and his great grandchildren, Cheyanne Grassman, and McKayla Behling. Many other relatives and friends. William was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Lucille, and one sister Mae Hayes. A memorial service will be held today, Thursday March 1, 2012 at the Main Chapel in King at 1 P.M. Chaplain Wayne Schwanke will officiate. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday at the Main Chapel in King from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1 P.M. A private burial of cremains will be held on Friday at the Middleton Junction Cemetery. There will also be a celebration of life at the West Side Club in Madison starting at 4 P.M. on Friday March 2, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in William’s name.
