Burns, Edward R.

Edward R. Burns, age 73, of Waupaca, WI passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega. Ed was born in Thebes, Illinois on November 4, 1938, the son of the late Ralph W. and Gertrude K. (Bishop) Burns. On Nov 19, 1957, Ed married Linda Britt in Cornith, Mississippi. He was the owner-operator of Ed Burns Concrete Contractors in Milton, WI for many years. Ed and Linda were former residents of Janesville and Milton until moving to Waupaca in 2004. He loved horses, watching the Packers and St. Louis Cardinals, and loved goose hunting. Ed especially cherished his time spent with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Linda Burns, Waupaca, WI; his daughters: Kimberly (Nathan) Lick, Waupaca, WI and Tracy (Dale) Olson, Indian Trail, NC; his son, Glenn (Jean) Burns, Snyder, TX; five grandchildren: G.J. Burns, Snyder, TX; Elizabeth (Dan Botting) Lick, Manawa, WI; Ryan (Cassy Olson) Lick, Waupaca, WI; Madison Olson and Mackenzie Olson, Indian Trail, NC; three great grandchildren: Bryce Bartel, Manawa, WI; Hailey Lick, Waupaca, WI and Cashtyn Botting, Manawa, WI; his brothers: Arthur Burns, Footville, WI; Russell (Bonnie) Burns, Janesville, WI; David (Karen) Keelin, Edgerton, WI; his sisters: Jaunita Parnell, Carlyle, IL; Faye (Donald) Light, Thebes, IL; Julia (Teddy) Bryant, Tamms, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude (Bishop) Burns-Keelin; step-father, Fred Keelin; step-mother, Gertrude (Reavis) Burns; an infant brother; a brother-in-law, L.E. Parnell; a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Burns; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and three nephews. The Funeral Service will be held today, Thursday, March 8 at 1:00 PM at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Pastor Rich Engle, officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery in the Town of Farmington, WI. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are greatly appreciated to Shepherds Care or Lakeview Manor. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Lakeview Manor for the wonderful care given to Ed over the last 6 years.
