Johnson, Nils Martin

Nils Martin Johnson, 80, Plover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King. Funeral services will be at 1pm, Monday, March 12th, 2012 at The Main Chapel in King. Pastor Rich Engle will officiate. Full military honors to follow service. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm Sunday, March 11th, 2012 at Maple Crest Funeral Home, Waupaca, and again from 12pm until time of service Monday at the Main Chapel at King’s Veterans Home. Nils was born September 2nd, 1931 in Beaver, Utah, born to Nils Johnson Sr. and Dora Johnson. He married Bernice Hotchkiss on October 6th, 1951 in Long Beach California. They traveled extensively during Nils’s military career. He spent 20 plus years in the United States Military Services and retired in 1973. He also worked for the King Sanitation District over 15 years. When he was semi-retired he worked for Menards over 12 years. Nils was a wonderful husband of 60 years, father and grandfather, and his family and friends meant the world to him. He loved making everyone laugh and telling the best jokes. He was our hero. He joined his loving wife Bernice Johnson who passed in October. He is survived by his children: Jennifer, Jackie, Jill, and John; grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Delane Johnson, sister-in-law Anna Marie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and five siblings. Along with son-in-law Dan and grandchildren, Dora Lynn, Danny, Dawn and Karinda. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Olsen Hall and Maple Crest Funeral Home.
