Big Hearts from a Small Town

During the 2012 State Tournament most people said that a team from a small town, although ranked Number 1 all season, could not beat a team from a large city for the State Title. This did not sit well with our Lady Bulldogs…they thought long and hard about what people said and knew they had not only the talent and ability, but more importantly the drive and determination to win it all. They described themselves as having “Big Hearts from a Small Town.” Using those big hearts they proved the doubters wrong and won their 2nd consecutive D2 State Championship!!

Now it is our turn to show everyone that along with our Lady Bulldogs, we also have “Big Hearts from a Small Town.” New London’s own Bridget Pethke and Tara Knapstein have been invited to participate in the Wisconsin Coaches’ Association All-Star game this summer, which showcases outstanding Senior basketball players in Wisconsin. As a part of playing in this game, they are asked to raise funds for the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer). Shirts commemorating the Lady Bulldogs back to back State Championship Titles, as well as their undefeated 2012 season, are being sold by the New London Girls’ Youth Basketball Association. All profits from the shirts will be donated to the MACC Fund through Bridget and Tara’s fundraising efforts.

Order forms can be printed from www.nlgyba.hoopsystems.com, or picked up at the New London Chamber office or Fox Cities Embroidery in Hortonville and can be mailed to Sheila Walter 915 Smith St., New London, WI 54961 or dropped off at the New London Chamber office or Fox Cities Embroidery. Orders are due with payment by Tuesday, April 3rd.

T-shirt pick up will be at the New London High School on Tuesday, April 10th from 5:00-7:00 pm and Wednesday, April 11th from 4:00-6:00 pm. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact Sheila Walter at 920-585-8936. You may also stop at the High School during the pick up dates to purchase extra shirts on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Let’s proudly show our own “Big Hearts from a Small Town,” by celebrating the success of the New London Girls’ Basketball Team and giving to the MACC Fund!
