The Trucker boys varsity baseball team opened the season with a win on Thursday, March 29, defeating the New London Bulldogs 2-1.
The Truckers scored one run in the bottom of the first when a baserunner was caught in a rundown between third and home. New London threw the ball away, allowing the runner to score. Austin Paisar later drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out. He laced a single to right field that drove in Ben Klein for the win.
Paisar pitched five innings, striking out seven, and giving up one run. Turner Doornink pitched two innings in relief, facing just six batters.
