Demmert, Robert J.

Robert J. Demmert, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on October 25, 1921 to the late William and Alice (O’Connor) Demmert. On March 13, 1948 he married Theresa M. Gamet. Robert was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Signal Corp. He worked for 37 years as an Engineer for AT & T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Robert was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Theresa; children: Dianne Votaw of Rocklin, CA; and Robert (Bonny) Demmert of Briggsville, WI; grandchildren: Brian Tinsley, Nicholas Votaw and Cheryl (Kevin) Thur; great grandchildren: Linda Tinsley and Claire Votaw; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William Demmert. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, with Father Paul Vanden Hogen officiating. The visitation was in the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors is in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Wisconsin Veterans Home. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
