Johnson, Alta Erna

Alta Erna Johnson, age 94, of Waupaca, WI, passed away on Monday, April 16th, 2012. She was born in Wittenberg, WI, on April 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Paul and Esther (Krause) Hanke. Alta was united in marriage to Theodore H. Johnson on July 31, 1938 in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1988. Together they owned and operated the Johnson's Turkey Farm in the Town of Lind, Waupaca. In 1942 they turned it into a dairy farm, retiring in 1974. Alta loved the outdoors and enjoyed caring for her flower gardens and lawn. Survivors include seven children: Warren (Rita) Johnson, Waupaca, WI; Donna (Stephen) Lumsden, Cedar Park, TX; Joan West, Appleton, WI; Theodore Johnson, Almond, WI; Kay Goetsch, Florissant, MO; LeRoy (Jean) Johnson, Ogdensburg, WI; Donald (Judith) Johnson, Erin, NY; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; sister, Juanita Nielsen, Weyauwega, WI; brother, Duane (Sandra) Hanke, Birnamwood, WI. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald and two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson and three brothers and two sisters. A Family Graveside Service will be held at Lind Center Cemetery, Town of Lind, Waupaca Co., WI, with Pastor Jeffrey S. Fletcher officiating. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
