White, Wheeler, Davidson lead the way

Bryan White, Zach Wheeler and Macie Davidson each had big days for the Waupaca Comet track team at recent meets.

White won the shot put and discus events Thursday, April 12, at the Wautoma Invitational and Tuesday, April 10, at a triangular meet in Waupaca; Wheeler won the 1,600- and 3,200 runs at the Waupaca meet; and Davidson won the long jump events at both meets and Saturday, April 14, at the Little Chute Invitational.

Little Chute Invitational

LITTLE CHUTE – The Waupaca boys finished fifth out of 10 teams with 52 points, while the girls were eighth with 38.

Placing for the Comets were White, second in the discus and shot put; Justin Johnson, third in the long jump, fifth in the high jump and seventh in the 100-meter dash; the 800-meter relay team, third; the 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams, fifth; Tony Austreng, sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump; the 3,200-meter relay team, sixth; Kyle Taylor, seventh in the 400-meter dash; Steven Canterbury, eighth in the 400; and Brogan Kendziora, eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Placing for the girls were Davidson, first in the long jump (16 feet, 7 3/4 inches), second in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400; Taylor Davidson, second in the 100; the 800 relay team, fifth; Alisa Blank, seventh in the 400; and Ashley Mertz, seventh in the 100.

Wautoma Invitational

WAUTOMA – The boys tied for sixth with 55 points, while the girls tied for seventh with 37.

White won the shot put and discus events with throws of 46 feet, 8 1/2 inches and 150 feet, 6 inches, respectively, while Macie Davidson turned in the top long jump of 16 feet, 2 inches.

Also placing for the Comet boys were Johnson, second in the high jump and fifth in the 100; the 800 relay team, third; the 800 relay team, third; James Warren, fifth in the 3,200; the 400 relay team, fifth; Barraza, sixth in the 300 hurdles; the 1,600 relay team, seventh; Austreng, seventh in the triple jump; the 3,200 relay team, seventh; and Kendziora, eighth in the 200.

Also placing for the girls were Macie Davidson, second in the 200; Taylor Fabricius, fifth in the 3,200; Taylor Davidson, fifth in the 100; the 800 relay team, fifth; Blank, sixth in the 400; the 1,600 relay team, seventh; Autumn Schultz, eighth in the 800-meter run; and the 3,200 relay team, eighth.

Waupaca Triangular

WAUPACA – The Waupaca boys placed first with 71 points, while the girls were third with 31.

Wheeler placed the boys by winning the 1,600 and 3,200 in 4:56.3 and 10:57.8, respectively, while White won the discus and shot put with tosses of 139 feet, 9 inches and 43 feet, 3, 1/2 inches. James Camann also won the triple jump event with a leap of 36 feet, 11 1/2 inches, while the 400 relay team placed first in 48.34.

Also placing for the boys were Dakotah Revai, second in the shot put and discus; Austreng, second in the triple jump and third in the long jump; Zach Waitrovich, second in the 400; Warren, second in the 1,600; Johnson, second in the high and long jumps; Barraza, second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the pole vault; Kendziora, second in the 300 hurdles; the 800 and 3,200 relay teams, second; Andy Reis, third in the 110 hurdles; and the 1,600 relay team, third.

Macie Davidson won the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 5 1/2 inches and the 200 in 28.2, while Fabricius won the 3,200 in 13:09.

Also placing for the Comet girls were Taylor Davidson, second in the high jump and third in the 100; Blank, second in the 400 and third in the 200; the 800 relay team, second; Katherine Haen, third in the 1,600; and the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams, third.

The Comets competed Tuesday, April 17, in a triangular at Appleton Xavier and are in Mosinee Thursday, April 19, for the Mosinee Invitational.
