Grant, Elaine

Elaine Grant, 81, of Stanley/Wild Rose passed away April 29, 2012 at the Clark County Health Care Center. She was born July 3, 1930 to Leo and Marie Niemuth in Waupaca, WI. She was a 1948 graduate of Waupaca High School. Elaine worked in Waupaca as an operator at the telephone company. On November 7, 1948, she married Clyde Atkinson. They lived and farmed near Amherst, WI. In 1958 they moved to Wild Rose. After the passing of Clyde in 1968 Elaine remained in Wild Rose where she worked at the Wild Rose Creamery and was clerk/treasurer for the Village of Wild Rose. In 1974, Elaine married Harry Grant. They lived in Winter, WI. In 1999 after the passing of Harry in 1995, Elaine moved back to Wild Rose. Elaine loved baking, sewing and helping people. Elaine was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wild Rose until health problems limited her activities. Elaine moved to Stanley in 2011 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Elaine is survived by two children, Larry (Lona) Atkinson, Wild Rose; Barbara (Dean) Samuelson of Stanley; five grandchildren, Angie (Atkinson) Tkachuk, Altamont, IL; Tim (Ranae) Bristol, Manawa, WI; Kevin (Michelle) Samuelson, Evansville, WI; John Bristol, San Marcos, CA; Keith (Whitney) Samuelson, Jewell, IA. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Patrick, Philip, Ana, Indiana, Allison, Samantha, Garrett, Grant, Raeya, Mikayla, Ella, Elaina and Tara. One brother, Wayne (Charlotte) Niemuth, Richland, WA; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Niemuth, Waupaca, WI, and Jean Wallace, Janesville, WI. Many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde and Harry, her parents, Leo and Marie, and two brothers, Wallace Niemuth and Robert Niemuth. A funeral service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 420 Park Ave, Wild Rose at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 2, 2012 with the Reverend Dale Bahls officiating. Friends and family called at the church on May 2 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church. A private family burial will take place in the Belmont Cemetery, rural Amherst, at a later date. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
