Cardinals sweep Indians

Stevens Point Pacelli clinched at least a share of the Central Wisconsin 8 Conference baseball championship Monday, May 14, with a 7-2 win over Weyauwega-Fremont.

W-F also defeated Shiocton 5-2 Thursday, May 10, and fell to Pacelli 9-2 Tuesday, May 8.

Pacelli 7, W-F 2

STEVENS POINT – Winning pitcher Adam Kluck held the Indians to three hits and struck out eight batters.

The Cardinals scored twice in each of the first three innings before adding another run in the sixth. W-F’s runs came in the second and sixth innings.

W-F 5, Shiocton 2

WEYAUWEGA – Shiocton came up with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, but didn’t score again.

The Indians tied the game with runs in the first and fifth and went ahead with three runs in the sixth.

Wes Alix had three of the Indians’ seven hits, while Tyler Hart drove in a pair of runs and Trevor Potratz picked up the win on the mound.

Pacelli 9, W-F 2

WEYAUWEGA – Kluck kept the Indians guessing again, as he struck out seven batters in a game that had been suspended April 19.

W-F scored twice in the fourth.

W-F will play at Manawa at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday, May 17) before wrapping up the regular season Tuesday, May 22, with a 4:30 p.m. nonconference home game with Mosinee.
