I-S to begin search for superintendent

The Iola-Scandinavia School Board discussed the recruitment process for a new superintendent at a special meeting Wednesday, June 6.

Joe Price will vacate the position effective June 30.

Dennis Richards, a consultant with the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, is assisting the board with their search. He discouraged the board from attempting to fill the position this fall and walked them through a four-month recruitment process.

Richards suggested that the board immediately start a search for an interim superintendent, saying that this will in turn get the word out that Iola-Scandinavia School District has a vacancy.

Price recommended Tess Wojcik as acting superintendent until an interim can be found, as she holds the certifications required for the position.

If the district decides to use Richards’ services, the cost will be a minimum of $6,000 and a maximum of $8,500.

“We work hard at putting good people in the right places,” Richards said. “We don’t want school boards to settle for anything less than what they are looking for.”
