Frater, Virginia E.

Virginia “Ginna” E. Frater, Wild Rose, Wisconsin, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 as a result of complications from a stroke in North Fort Myers, FL. She was born on July 19, 1931 in Sparta, WI; daughter of Lloyd and Luella (Haskins) Strom. Virginia graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1949. On January 20, 1951, Virginia married Frederick Frater in Wisconsin Dells, WI. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of WI – Madison. Virginia worked at many hospitals and nursing homes, including Wild Rose, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Stevens Point, Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, Stoughton, Watertown, Madison, Waushara Co. Health and Migrant, Wild Rose Manor, and the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. She volunteered with the Red Hats, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Wild Rose Historical Society. Virginia had many interests, hobbies, and loves. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved to garden, and enjoyed art. She loved music, especially listening to classical artists. Virginia was an animal lover and her cats and other animals kept her great company. She will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends. Virginia is survived by: her loving husband, Frederick Frater of Wild Rose, WI; children, Roberta “Bobbi” Brown of Stevens Point, WI and Jack (Carole) Frater of Wild Rose, WI; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Connie) Strom of Crivitz, WI; two sisters, Bobbi Strom and Marilyn Fitzpatrick of Natick, MA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Luella Strom; a son, David Frater; a daughter, Ann Verhalen; a brother, John Strom; and two sisters, Patricia Mengelt and Jeanette Strom. A Memorial Service will be on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Dopp Memorial Center, 5 miles north of Wild Rose on State Road 22. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Dopp Memorial Center. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
