Concert benefits music, educational programs

Neuville Motors and the Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club will sponsor the eighth annual Waupaca’s Own Benefit Concert at the Waupaca High School (WHS) Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 7. Doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be a pre-concert performance in the lobby.

The 12 concert performers are Waupaca High School graduates who have distinguished themselves in music, coupled with some performing teachers at WHS as well. They are vocalists Dan Wolfgram, Eric Neuville, Lindsay Neuville, Kelly Hackett, Ashley Lowe, Kira Morrissey, Heather Elkenbary, John Hammond and Ken Lauer, and pianists Wanda Elkenbary and Joni Radley.

The concert raises $4,000 for the WHS Vocal Musical Scholarship Fund, and more than $9,500 worth of educational grants for projects submitted by Waupaca school teachers. Any additional funds go toward the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, college and Fox Valley Technical Collage scholarships and Service-Above-Self Awards to Waupaca’s Middle School students.

The funds from this event come from $1,000, $500 and $100 sponsorships, free-will offerings at the door and from Thrivent Financial’s supplemental funding of up to $1,000.

It surely behooves all patrons to arrive early at the benefit concert in order to secure the first-come-first-served seating.
