Stefani, Sylvano

Sylvano Stefani, 86, New London, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the St. Joseph Residence. He passed in peace with his beloved wife and family by his side. Born in Italy and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Sylvano was the son of late Raffaelo and Pamela (Gagliani) Stefani. He leaves his wife of 15 years, Marilyn Stefani, two step-daughters, Nancy (James) Ott, New London and their children, Aaron and Andrew; Julie (John) Musiol, and their children Spencer, Benjamin and Geneva; brother and sister in law, Alberto (June) Stefani, Coloma, MI; many nieces: Pamela (Bernard) Ortiz, Chicago, IL and their child Steven; Toni (Alex) Javonovic, Coloma, MI and their children: Amy June and Giovanni; nephew Terry (Arlene) and children Alberto and Gabrielle that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patty Stefani. In his early years, Syl was a newspaper boy, braving the cold Chicago winters to pass on the words of the Chicago Tribune. He later joined the service and was a veteran of World War II. After the war, Syl went on to successfully run several restaurants and resorts, including Rondo Manor in Lake Geneva, WI. Sylvano remained close to his Italian family. He and Al shared many fun pranks between each other, he cared for his sister in her later years, and he enjoyed all of his nieces, nephews and their children. Later in life, Syl and Marilyn led an active life in Florida, enjoying several trips to Italy and numerous cruises. Syl and Marilyn were well known in their neighborhood for throwing lavish dinner parties. His meals and hospitality will be fondly remembered by family and friends. Syl loved to live life. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by all that knew him. Services were held at St. Joseph Residence Chapel on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pat Knutson officiating.
